Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician, TD (Natchitoches Campus)

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program provides specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Students learn to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain the operating condition of domestic, residential, and commercial heating/air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The program is 45 credit hours.

Graduates of this program work as technicians to install, service, and repair air conditioning and heating systems, and refrigeration systems in both residential and commercial establishments. BPCC’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program is nationally accredited by HVAC Excellence. 

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of a Technical Diploma in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician will be able to:

  1. to provide the student with a training program that includes adequate instruction, tools, equipment, and facilities necessary to train the student in servicing and maintaining domestic and/or residential air conditioning and refrigeration units;
  2. to provide local industry with qualified maintenance and service personnel; and
  3. to provide opportunities for students and industry personnel to receive environmentally safe certification through on-site testing.

Students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor concerning required courses and sequencing for this degree.

Freshman Year


First Semester: 12 Credit Hours


Second Semester: 12 Credit Hours


Sophomore Year


Third Semester: 6 Credit Hours


Fourth Semester: 15 Credit Hours


Total Credit Hours required for the Technical Diploma in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician: 45
