The Associate of General Studies degree provides a foundation in several disciplines, including English, mathematics, and science. The degree plan offers the student an opportunity to establish a base of knowledge about general education courses while using electives to explore one or more specialized areas of study. This degree works for students who need to make a decision about a career choice and for students who plan to move to a four-year college to earn a bachelor’s degree not typically offered at a community college.

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of the Associate of General Studies will have demonstrated:

comprehension of information by reading college-level material across the curriculum;
ability to communicate effectively in written English across the curriculum;
proficiency in oral communication skills across the curriculum;
ability to comprehend and perform course-specific mathematical problems;
development of critical thinking skills across the curriculum;
ability to use library resources to research topics across the curriculum; and
ability to utilize and apply current computer technology across the curriculum.
