Performing Arts, Theatre Concentration, AA

The Associate of Applied Arts in Performing Arts (Theatre) is designed for students seeking practical experience and course work in theatre. The degree program provides a comprehensive two-year associate degree which students can transfer to a four-year theatre program, or students can seek continued employment in the entertainment industry using the enhanced professional performance and technical skills they have acquired.

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of the Associate of Arts in Performing Arts with a concentration in Theatre or Musical Theatre will have demonstrated:

  1. comprehension of basic theories, practices, and techniques used in theatre;
  2. proficiency in performance abilities or technical skills, and management situations;
  3. comprehension of audition and job interview skills;
  4. competency in analysis and research skills; and
  5. successful communication within the theatre environment using verbal, written, and basic computer literacy skills.

Required Courses for Associate of Arts in Performing Arts with a Concentration in Theatre:

Freshman Year


First Semester: 16 Hours


Second Semester: 16 Hours


Sophomore Year


Third Semester: 16 Hours

Total Credit Hours required for the Associate of Applied Arts in Performing Arts (Theatre concentration): 60


Students must meet prerequisites before taking any given course.

Students must make a “C” or higher in all courses which satisfy graduation requirements in order to receive the Associate of Arts in Performing Arts BPCC.

1For transfer to a four-year institution, students are strongly advised to take MATH 102  instead of MATH 124   or  MATH 101 . Students must seek the assistance of their advisor to determine the appropriate mathematics course.

*The student must take a minimum of 21 hours from the following courses for the Theatre concentration: THTR 113 , THTR 114 , THTR 116 , THTR 120 , THTR 153 , THTR 154 , THTR 156 , THTR 157 , THTR 158 THTR 159 THTR 211 THTR 212 , THTR 213 , THTR 214 , THTR 215 , THTR 216 , THTR 220 , THTR 221 , THTR 232 , THTR 255 , THTR 256 , THTR 257 , THTR 260
