Performing Arts, Music Production and Technology Concentration, AA

The Associate of Applied Arts in Performing Arts (Music Production and Technology Concentration) is designed for students who desire the opportunity to focus on blending music and technology. The program emphasizes hands-on practice with recording programs along with creative music studies. Topics of study include music theory, applied lessons, and studio production. This concentration will prepare students for beginning recording careers such as audio technician, music producer, recording artist, and composer.

Recipients of the Associate of Arts in Performing Arts with a concentration in Music Production and Technology will have demonstrated:

  1. Understanding and use of music studio technology and software systems;
  2. Basic piano/keyboard and/or other music performance music skills as they translate into music production;
  3. Comprehension of basic music theory and aural theory skills as they translate into the music studio environment;
  4. Comprehension of the skills and knowledge necessary to apply the tools of the modern recording studio in the professional audio industry; and
  5. Successful communication within the music production and technology environment using verbal, written, and basic computer literacy skills.

Required Courses for Associate of Arts in Performing Arts with a Concentration in Music Production and Technology:

First Semester: 16 Hours


Second Semester: 15 Hours


Third Semester: 14 Hours


Fourth Semester: 15 Hours


Total Credit Hours required for the Associate of Arts in Performing Arts (Music Production and Technology): 60


SPCH 110  or SPCH 115  (grade of “C” or higher)

Students must meet prerequisites before taking any given course.

Students must make a “C” or higher in all courses which satisfy graduation requirements in order to receive the Associate of Arts in Performing Arts from BPCC.

#For transfer to a four-year institution, students are strongly advised to take MATH 102  instead of MATH 101 . Students must seek the assistance of their advisor to determine the appropriate mathematics course.
