Directing, CTS

The Directing Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) program prepares graduates to work as directors in theatre.  The curriculum provides study and hands-on experience for students interested in employment in the entertainment industry.

Learning Outcomes:

Recipients of CTS in Directing will have demonstrated:

  1. comprehension and use of the skills necessary to select, research, and analyze a script; cast, block, and rehearse actors; and technically produce a stage play;
  2. comprehension of and use of the major historical directing influences from prominent historical and contemporary theatre directors;
  3. comprehension and use of stage directions, theatre terminology, and theatre design and acting concepts to team with designers, actors, and theatre managers and technicians to produce theatre; and
  4. the ability to interview for an entry-level directing job in theatre or a related field.
