CDYC 170:Math and Science for Early Childhood Educators Credit Hours: 3 Lecture hours per week: 3 Lab hours per week: 0
Prerequisite(s): Score of 16+ on ACT Reading or score of 85+ on ACCUPLACER Reading Comprehension or score of 70+ on COMPASS Reading or successful completion of READ 099 AND successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in other required developmental coursework; successful completion of CDYC 101 , CDYC 103 , and CDYC 105 ; or permission of Program Coordinator. This course presents an organized, sequential approach to creating developmentally appropriate math and science curricula for young children. It is designed to support children’s construction of concepts and skills essential to a basic understanding of mathematics and science. Three types of learning approaches are emphasized: naturalistic, informal, and structured. (Fall semester only)
