Theatre, CTS


The Theatre Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) program prepares graduates to work in various theatre areas including performance and technical theatre.  The curriculum provides study and hands-on experience for students interested in employment in the entertainment industry.

Learning Outcomes

Recipients of the Certificate of Technical Studies in Theatre will have demonstrated:

  1. comprehension of basic theories, practices, and techniques used in theatre;
  2. proficiency in performance abilities, specific technical skills, or management situations; and
  3. comprehension of audition and job interview skills.

Required Courses for the Certificate of Technical Studies in Theatre:

First Semester: 16 Hours


Second Semester: 16 Hours


Total Credit Hours: 32


Students must meet prerequisites before taking any given course.

Students must make a “C” or higher in all courses which satisfy graduation requirements in order to receive the Certificate of Technical Studies in Theatre from BPCC.

*The student must take a minimum of 21 hours from the following approved electives within theatre: THTR 113 , THTR 114 , THTR 116 , THTR 120 , THTR 153 , THTR 154 , THTR 156 , THTR 157 , THTR 158 , THTR 211 , THTR 212 , THTR 213 , THTR 214 , THTR 215 , THTR 216 , THTR 220 , THTR 221 , THTR 232 , THTR 255 , THTR 256 , THTR 257 , THTR 260 

Students must meet the general education competencies for the academic certificate: place out of READ 099 ; place into ENGL 101 ; and place into MATH 099  as documented by ACT, placement tests, or course completion.
