Rural Health Medical Office Administration, CTC


The Career and Technical Certificate in Rural Health Medical Office Administration is to provide students with vocational opportunities for individuals to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform coding, billing, and other administrative functions in rural health systems. 

Special Requirements

This program is offered in collaboration with Louisiana Tech University during the fall semester. Students studying at Louisiana Tech for the Undergraduate Certificate in Rural Health Administrative Support and residing in Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Red River, Union, and Winn parishes are eligible to earn their CTC in Rural Health Medical Office Administration by taking MOS 101, MOS 102, MOS 253 at Bossier Parish Community College.

Learning Outcomes
Recipients of the Career and Technical Certificate in Rural Health Medical Office Administration will be able to:

A. Identify common diseases and health conditions prevalent in rural areas, including chronic diseases, infectious diseases, and conditions influenced by environmental factors

B. Apply coding sets specific to rural health settings, such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes, and develop proficiency in accurately documenting diagnoses, procedures, and services provided in compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements

C. Demonstrate cultural competence skills necessary for providing patient-centered care in rural communities, including understanding cultural norms, beliefs, and healthcare-seeking behaviors prevalent in rural populations
